Recording at 7 Hills: $550/day, $75/hr

I’m available for studio recording work on albums, demos, overdubs, sometimes less-conventional projects.

Process

My approach is to stay organized, capture as much as possible, edit as-needed, and know the space and equipment thoroughly.

That might mean rushing through an album in a couple days, or letting a project develop over a longer timeline, in stages.

studios

I manage 7 Hills Studio, so it’s familiar and full of my own gear. It’s where I do most of my recording, and the space can handle anything smaller than a large ensemble: bands, soloists, MIDI & synths, re-amping, etc.

I also record in other studios, for the tone or for practical reasons. I’ve worked in many (most?) Seattle area studios, more along the west coast.

Production & Pre-production

Let me know what you’re after, I’m pretty accommodating when I like a project.

I like to hear demos or see a performance, and discuss tempo, studio space & sound, vocal delivery, instrumental tones, arrangement, layering, and any details worth exploring before the studio.

Taking on a production role usually involves guiding a record from beginning to end.

“Deliverables”

I provide Pro Tools session files, with all takes and edits from the recording session (you will need to supply a USB drive).

Rough mixes are made at the end of each session, and as needed while recording.

If someone else is mixing, I’m happy to communicate with the mixer for a smooth handoff.
